The Emporia State University Instructional Design and Technology Department would like to invite you to participate as a client for the Spring 2019 Masters Projects! Our goal is to give our students a real-world experience applying the Instructional Design (ID) process, as well as exposing them to potential clients and employers. We are looking for clients in both public and private industry.  So, please pass this along to your colleagues.

Do you need assistance with a problem in your organization that can be solved with training and instruction? Be a client for one of our students! Problem Statements are due January 4, 2019 and students will begin working on them soon after. Projects will be completed and presented by early May.​

Would you like to help an elementary student improve their reading? The Kansas Masonic Literacy Center is organizing volunteers to listen to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders at Timmerman Elementary School in Emporia read for 30 minutes once a week to improve their reading fluency beginning January 16 and ending April 26. Appropriate level books are already selected and the volunteer listens to the student read and helps them with unknown words. Choose a day and time that fits your schedule:

Wednesdays: 8:45-9:15 am for 2nd graders

Fridays: 11:30-12 noon for 4th graders

​If Fridays work for your schedule you have the option of listening to a 4th grader read, stay for lunch with the student and then listen to a 3rd grader read after lunch.

​Now that the semester is over, IT will be performing maintenance on Skylab this week.  Beginning at 6:00 am this Thursday, December 20, and continuing through Friday, December 21, SkyLab will be unavailable.  This will include students or faculty using SkyLab services as well as employees that use Skylab to connect remotely.  We apologize for any inconvenience, but appreciate your patience while we perform this necessary maintenance.  Questions may be directed to the IT Help Desk at 351-5555.​

The Research and Grants Center invites applications from undergraduate students from all disciplines to participate in the annual Kansas Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol poster symposium. The event is an opportunity to display, in poster format, the stellar research conducted by undergraduate students at Kansas' universities to legislators and other members of state government. Five finalists from Emporia State University will join their peers from other Kansas Board of Regents Universities in Topeka at the Capitol. Researchers must:

* be undergraduates during the 2018-2019 academic year;

* have completed research under the guidance of a Kansas 4-year public institution faculty mentor;

* follow the methodology of the appropriate academic discipline;

* have research of sufficient quality to be presented at a professional academic meeting;

* have the skills, resources, and capacity to produce a professional academic poster;

* agree to undergo presentation training and rehearse their presentations prior to the Capitol                      event

 

To apply, please submit your name, faculty mentor, project title, and a 250 word abstract to Ashley Brandt at abrandt2@emporia.edu. ​

The poster printing formally provided by the Memorial Union at the ID counter is being moved to the Center for Student Involvement (CSI). To place an order fill out the form and email csidesk1@emporia.edu with a digital file. You can also bring a paper copy of the form to the CSI with a thumb drive containing the file to be printed. Pick up and payment for poster printing will be located at the CSI as well. If you have any questions feel free to contact the CSI 620-341-5481​

Please mark your calendar for the 2019 Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture at 7:00 pm on the evening of Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Albert Taylor Hall. The tradition of this lecture series is to promote diversity and inclusion. The role of civic leadership in making progress on challenges facing our communities will also be included.
