Can the Bods boxes are still in place throughout campus departments, residence halls, and at the front desk of the Center for Student Involvement! The donations of non-perishable goods to these boxes will provide continued support for our campus food pantry, Corky's Cupboard. The city of Emporia is holding a clean sweep!! A clean sweep is a time when the dump is open and free for people to drop off items. Items include: furniture, brush, electronics, ect. The city is needing volunteers to help with unloading, sorting, and traffic control.
This is a two day event and goes on October 21st and October 22nd from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day. This is a great opportunity to get community service hours and help the city of Emporia.
**Closed toe-shoes required, boots and work pants recommended.

Emporia School District is hosting a city-wide clothing drive going on now through October 30th!
The district is looking for volunteers to help sort the clothing after the drive. The clothing sort is an on going event, and will last two weeks! Please feel free to sign up for multiple one hour shifts. They are in DESPERATE need for help.

This event is from 5:30 to 8:00pm on October 31st, 2017. The mall is requesting volunteers to pass out candy, judge the costume contest, and run game stations.

Find out how you can become an official! Emporia State Coaching Education and Recreation Services will be holding official workshops this semester to develop officials who wish to work games. The goal is to develop officials who wish to work beyond intramural games and officiate middle school and high school games. Officiating is a great way to stay involved in sports and earn extra money.
The first meeting will be held on October 25th at 7:00 p.m. in Rm 204 of the HPER building.
Anyone interested in officiating is welcome to attend.

Senate executive team this year, the Faculty Senate will be holding a special
election this fall to elect a new 2nd Vice President for the current
academic year (2017-2018). The Senate’s Nominating Committee intends to submit

Student Wellness Center has received its next shipment of flu shots, and we'll be vaccinating in the Student Wellness Center on Tuesday, October 17th from 9am to 12pm and Thursday, October 19th from 4 pm to 6 pm. ESU's senior nursing students will be doing clinicals with us on Tuesday so with their assistance it should move quickly. Please wear a short sleeved shirt and bring your insurance card to get protected from one of winter's worst. This Friday (October 20) is the National Day on Writing (NDOW).
The Composition Program will be celebrating this day by hosting a table in the Union Main Street, 10am-4pm.
There will be a RAFFLE to win a $25 gift card to Ellen Plumb's City Bookstore (the rad indie bookstore just south of campus on 1122 Commercial Street).
Entering the raffle is simple:
- Take a selfie or post a photo during the NDOW celebration.
- Be sure to include BOTH the official hashtags #WhyIWrite and #NDOW2017.

The Bonner and Bonner Diversity Lecture will be held at 7:00 pm on the evening of Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Albert Taylor Hall.
