The Story

This evening, Friday, February 23rd, IT will again be launching a new version of our antivirus software, Symantec's Endpoint Protection. The new software will be installed on all ESU-owned Windows computers, including all laptops.  Beginning Friday night, and repeating Saturday, and Sunday nights, February 24, and 25, computers will receive the update overnight.

We will need you to reboot your computer and leave it powered on for the weekend.

The software installs automatically, and your computer will re-boot spontaneously.

If the update does not install during any periods designated, IT personnel will contact you to ensure the update gets applied as soon as possible. For those laptops that live off-campus all the time (SLIM Portland, for example) we can assist you remotely with installing the latest software.  You may call the Help Desk any time for assistance.

Thank you for your patience and assistance during this initiative as we work to keep ESU computers and data safe and secure.  Questions may be directed to the IT Help Desk at 341-5555 (toll free 1-877-341-5555).  Or go to myIT from Hornet.emporia.edu, and click on the Security/AntiVirus topic in the menu for all the details
