Beginning in September and continuing through early spring 2017, Information Technology is migrating Outlook email accounts to Office 365. Office 365 is the suite of services hosted by Microsoft – things like OneDrive, Delve, Sway, etc. Office 2016 is the software that runs on your computer – WORD, EXCEL, POWER POINT, etc and you will continue to use this.
The Outlook migration will move your entire email account to cloud-based storage hosted by Microsoft. This will allow you to not only access it anytime, anywhere, it will give the option of 50 GB of storage for your email (currently you have 2 GB). Outlook will be migrated for each department on campus. Click here for the tentative schedule for your area. Also be sure to check-out our Frequently Asked Questions about before and after your account has been migrated.
Another part of Office 365 is OneDrive. OneDrive is cloud storage for your files (not email). This, too, is hosted by Microsoft and enables you to access your files anytime, anywhere. All ESU staff, faculty and current students will be provisioned for a OneDrive account. This will become your new 'Y" drive, as the current "Y" drive is being discontinued. Everyone will have the opportunity to move their data to OneDrive. Click here to learn how to install OneDrive and how to move your data.
This page and the tabs above, will provide you with links to much of the documentation and information pertaining to the migration process and what it will mean to you.
