State of Kansas SMART Project Upgrade- Payment Processing Delays

The State of Kansas payment processing system known as SMART will be unavailable for a period of time to convert to a new version of PeopleSoft. Accounts Payable will not be able to process transactions from Thursday, November 5, 2015- Friday, November 13, 2015. If there are payments that are urgent in nature and need to be processed on or before those dates, please push those payments through OnBase as quickly as possible before Tuesday, November 4, 2015 in order to allow time for Accounts Payable payment processing. Payments affected include travel reimbursements and invoices approved to be paid through OnBase. As always, if an invoice can be paid with a Visa, we encourage usage of the ESU BPC as credit card payments will not be affected by this system downtime.

7. Be A Conversation Partner
The Intensive English Program needs more conversation partners to chat with students.

The Intensive English program is seeking individuals willing to spend about one hour each week talking with an international student. The conversation partners program pairs international students that are learning English with fluent English speakers for casual conversation. In addition to building friendships, the goal of the program is to give the students a chance to practice using spoken English in an informal setting, as well as to further intercultural communication and understanding on campus.

Partners meet for about one hour each week, throughout the semester. The partners choose a time and public place to meet that is convenient for them both. During meetings, the conversation partners have a casual chat about topics that are interesting to them.

Students, faculty, and staff are welcome.

For more information or to become a conversation partner, contact the Intensive English Program at iep@emporia.edu or stop by the Intensive English Program in Roosevelt Hall room 113.
